Wai Baby!

I'm delighted to announce our latest retail location! With Child Mei Tais will now be sold at Wai Baby. They sell cloth diapering systems, baby carriers, kids yoga & meditation supplies and much more. Their grand opening will take place Saturday, January 19th at 2 pm at Hello Cupcake in Tacoma. Safe And Warm

After the worst storm our little town has seen in history, we are warm again. Our house is nestled between two small slopes that protected it from wind damage (so no broken windows or downed trees). From our front window I watched the river crash against the shore with waves that looked like the ocean's. The old cannery's metal roof peeled away, blowing off like sheets of paper. But we stayed safe and warm, bundled in sweaters, cooking over the fire. I knit a scarf by candlelight.

Sadly, we lost the gorgeous old apple tree out on our country property (thank God we hadn't started building yet!).

I can knit again!

I knit a simple little scarf (finally) after staring at the yarn and needles for months and months as they collected dust on my bedside table. I'm not sure what type of yarn it is (it was a gift from a very dear and inspiring friend), but I did a basic knit stitch with #9 bamboo needles. It only took a few hours, once my fingers found the knitting rhythm again (the last time I knit anything I was 14 or 15 years old). I'm in trouble now, though...it was so relaxing and easy, I think I'm hooked! And that means buying yarn. Lots and lots of yarn. I have my eye on some gorgeous organic Irish Aran yarn I found online at The Irish Ewe in Maine. I love to do handmade Christmas gifts, but baby slings don't seem to be on everyone's wishlist. I hope you all like scarves!

Yay--Babylegs!

Seamus' Babylegs arrived yesterday from Urban Baby Runway. They are adorable! They're like tights, leggings and leg-warmers all in one. But with his chubby legs plus all the running, jumping, rolling, skipping, wrestling and dancing around he does, they tend to roll down a bit. But who cares? How could I resist the light blue and orange stripes? And they'll be perfect for potty training since they stay on even when he's not wearing a diaper. I have my heart set on getting a few more pairs for Rowan, too.

Plump, juicy cherries embroidered in dupioni silk on black, reversing to a cherry print with tiny cherries embroidered on each black twill strap end.

Celtic Cross
A simple Celtic cross of silver dupioni silk embroidered in white gold thread and adorned with a peacock blue dupioni silk "jewel" at the center of the cross (the cross is also available in gold). An elegant carrier for attending a wedding, a Christening, Christmas or Easter Mass or any other special occassion. White or black twill body and straps.
